At the heart of the Fossil Free movement are the hundreds of groups who meet regularly, take action on local targets and win.
Being part of a group is a unique experience, where you can contribute to making genuine change, learn new skills and meet like-minded people from your community.
Start a Fossil Free campaign
If there isn’t a local Fossil Free campaign near you already, then the movement needs your help!
Guide to hosting a Fossil Free gathering.
From your first gathering onwards, you’ll be supported at each step, so you can identify a campaign target and make a plan to win!
Every town needs a Fossil Free campaign, and you are the right person to get local action started.
The first step is easy: gathering a few people together, to talk about what a local Fossil Free campaign could look like. Check out the Fossil Free Gathering guide available to help you host your event, and then invite some people over!
Register a campaign or group on the Fossil Free map
Already working towards one or more of the Fossil Free campaign demands in your local community?
If you’d like to connect your group to the Fossil Free campaign, we’ll add you to the Fossil Free map, give you access to our Online Organising toolkit and help people around the world connect with your campaign. To join the Fossil Free campaign, your group must agree to the Fossil Free Organising Principles and be actively working towards one or more of the Fossil Free campaign demands.
If joining or starting a group isn’t for you, but you’d love to contribute your time and skills to the Fossil Free campaign, join a Movement Support Team.
Every great movement for change has consisted of both inspirational ‘out front’ leaders AND ‘behind the scenes’ supporters and organizers, who work to make sure the movement is well-organized, well-trained, and ultimately, successful.
Joining a Movement Support Team is a great way for you to use your unique skills and contributions to maximise our impact, by supporting — from a distance, for a few hours a week — those citizen campaigners who are ‘out front’ pushing their communities to go Fossil Free.
