This December, a wide range of fossil fuel divestment activists from across Europe and the world will be converging in Paris during the climate talks. What better time for our growing global movement to meet up, share, connect and most importantly, take action together!
Below is information on a range of convergence spaces, workshops, artbuilds and actions taking place alongside the COP21, that we encourage the divestment movement to get involved with.
We are horrified by the recent Paris attacks, and our heart goes out to everyone in Paris and across the world who is mourning. The climate movement stands against this hate and commits to continue raising our voice for peace and our shared humanity. Read our full statement here. Big oil out of culture action
Wednesday 9 December, 12pm, at the Louvre Museum
Join artists and divestment activists for a beautiful, spectacular performative intervention during COP21 calling for cultural divestment. Further information.
NB: On Tuesday 8th at La Generale. Join prop-making from 11am-1pm and planning and rehearsal meetings from 1pm-4pm.

12 December, 12:00pm in Central Paris.
Make sure you sign up below for all the information on how to join the huge mass action on the day after the climate talks formally close. You will need to attend a briefing or training session beforehand.

People’s climate summit
5 – 6 December, Montreuil
Debates, workshops, screenings and presentations of concrete alternatives in the face of climate change. This “People’s Climate Summit” will take place in Montreuil, a lively working-class town just outside the East of Paris (see map below).
Several divestment sessions are planned including an introduction to the French divestment campaign and a session on cultural divestment of museums and arts institutions. Full programme available here
Public trial of exxonMobil/ Invitation au Procès d’exxon
Saturday 5 December, 4-6pm, 7 rue François Debergue 93100, Montreuil
Climate activists and authors Bill McKibben and Naomi Klein will host a public trial of ExxonMobil at the People’s Climate Summit in Montreuil, a short metro ride just north of the center of Paris. They’ll be joined by actor Peter Sarsgaard and climate leaders from around the world. McKibben and Klein will interview a series of star witnesses who can speak to Exxon’s history of deception and the climate impacts that communities around the world are now experiencing because of the way Exxon has prevented climate action.

7 – 11 December, CENTQUATRE + other venues
In a working class neighbourhood north of Paris, a cultural centre called the CENTQUATRE will host a “Climate Action Zone” during the last week of the COP21, with some sessions at other venues on the map below. A range of divestment-related sessions are planned including:
‘Keeping it in the ground in 2016’
Wednesday 9 December, 14:00 – 16:00pm, Bourse du Travail – salle Louise Michèle
The divestment movement has taken the idea of keeping fossil fuels in the ground mainstream, and investors are finally acting on it. But how do we come together in May 2016 to ensure that fossil fuel infrastructure projects already in the pipelines don’t get built? This session will explore plans for a global mobilisation in May 2016 to keep fossil fuels underground.

Thursday 10 December, 10am-12pm, Centquatre, Atelier du bas (downstairs at the ZAC)
A session for divestment activists from across Europe (and some from other parts of the world) to share plans and ideas for mobilisation and organising in 2016, to discuss how to best sustain the regional network in the long run, and to share stories of struggles and successes.

Inspirational and scene-setting contributions by Bill McKibben and speakers from the divestment movement, tracing the history of the campaign, how divestment works, and sharing stories of struggles and successes of the past 3 years. Plus Q&A.

Let’s make the divestment movement’s presence in Paris beautiful! At this artspace you’ll get the opportunity to paint banners and build art for your actions, and help make D12 a creative colourful moment.
