(Photo by Karl Matthiesen)<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<h4 class=\"western\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nodashforgas.org.uk\/uncategorized\/press-release-ccs-conference-decc-blockade\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>9.09am \u201cWind not gas\u201d protest at Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC)<\/b><\/a><\/h4>\n<p class=\"western\">Cheeky (literally!) protesters highlighted the continued fossil fuel bias within government by blockading the steps of DECC. Rowan Tilly explained, \u201cAgainst the advice of their own Committee on Climate Change, the government has approved the construction of up to 30 new gas-fired power stations, and intends to go \u2018all out\u2019 for shale gas \u2013 with up to two thirds of the UK licensed for fracking. This new dash for gas is recklessly at odds with our national and international obligations on climate change and must be resisted, for both the sake of ourselves and future generations.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6780\" style=\"width: 591px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gofossilfree.org\/usa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2015\/06\/Wind-not-Gas-cheeky-protest.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6780\" class=\"wp-image-6780 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/gofossilfree.org\/usa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2015\/06\/Wind-not-Gas-cheeky-protest.jpg\" alt=\"Wind not Gas cheeky protest\" width=\"581\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-6780\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A message that&#8217;s hard to ignore for the UK&#8217;s new Energy and Climate Change secretary, Amber Rudd.<\/p><\/div>\n<h4 class=\"western\"><b>10.30am \u2013 Big Six Love-in and Lock-on in Prime Minister David Cameron&#8217;s constituency<br \/>\n<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Witney Action\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SQlpPnh6Eu8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"western\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nodashforgas.org.uk\/press-releases\/funeral-cost-bill-delivered-to-british-gas\/\" target=\"_blank\">11am: The Bill of Wrongs at British Gas HQ near Oxford<\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Shivering grandmas gathered outside the headquarters of British Gas in Oxford to highlight the human cost of fuel poverty being caused by the practices of the UK&#8217;s &#8216;Big 6&#8217; energy companies.<\/p>\n<dl id=\"attachment_6778\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 650px;\">\n<dt class=\"wp-caption-dt\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nodashforgas.org.uk\/press-releases\/funeral-cost-bill-delivered-to-british-gas\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6778 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/gofossilfree.org\/usa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2015\/06\/grannies-at-british-gas.jpg\" alt=\"grannies at british gas\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd class=\"wp-caption-dd\">Environmental activists, dressed as shivering grannies, hand delivered to British Gas Headquarters a \u201cBill\u201d for funeral costs for the thousands of customers who died from fuel poverty last year.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<h4>12.30pm: Fracking rig appears outside London City Hall<\/h4>\n<p>A group of activists erected a 30 foot tripod outside the front of City Hall and superglued themselves to the front of the building, protesting against <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2015\/may\/13\/boris-johnson-rejects-london-motion-on-fossil-fuel-divestment\">Boris Johnson\u2019s recent dismissal <\/a>of the Divest London and London Assembly call to divest their \u00a34.8bn pension fund from oil, coal and gas and his supportive stance on fracking and shale gas extraction.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6783\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nodashforgas.org.uk\/press-releases\/30ft-tripod-erected-at-city-hall\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6783\" class=\"wp-image-6783 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/gofossilfree.org\/usa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2015\/06\/Boris-says-its-fine-City-Hall-2.jpg\" alt=\"Boris-says-its-fine-City-Hall-2\" width=\"640\" height=\"483\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-6783\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">London Mayor Boris Johnson has said we should &#8216;leave no stone unturned&#8217; in fracking the land. So activists set up a &#8216;fracking rig&#8217; outside London City Hall<\/p><\/div>\n<h4 class=\"western\">1pm:\u00a0 Shell rebrands Van Gogh&#8217;s &#8216;Sunflowers&#8217; painting at the National Gallery<\/h4>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nodashforgas.org.uk\/news\/national-gallery-privatisation-oil-sponsorship-and-van-goghs-sunflowers\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-6785\" src=\"https:\/\/gofossilfree.org\/usa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2015\/06\/Shell-rebrand-Van-Goghs-flowers-1024x682-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"Shell-rebrand-Van-Goghs-flowers-1024x682\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" \/><\/a>\n<p>30 campaigners occupied the room containing Van Gogh\u2019s \u2018Sunflowers\u2019 in the National Gallery. They staged a surprise protest performance criticising the Gallery\u2019s proposed privatisation plans, and its controversial funding relationship with the oil company Shell.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"western\"><\/h4>\n<h4 class=\"western\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nodashforgas.org.uk\/press-releases\/imperial-college-london-to-protest-fossil-fuel-funded-research\/\" target=\"_blank\">2.30pm \u2013 Occupation of Imperial College\u2019s Department of Mining<\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Student activists occupied and staged a performance at the Department of Mining, Imperial College London University on Exhibition Road to protest against the University accepting millions of pounds from the fossil fuel industry, more than any other university in the UK, in order to fund research projects<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nodashforgas.org.uk\/press-releases\/imperial-college-london-to-protest-fossil-fuel-funded-research\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6788\" src=\"https:\/\/gofossilfree.org\/usa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2015\/06\/Dept-of-Mining-Imperial-College-London1.jpg\" alt=\"Dept-of-Mining-Imperial-College-London\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/h2>\n<h2>European day of action<\/h2>\n<p>It wasn&#8217;t just the Brits getting out on the streets to demand climate action &#8211;
