It particularly affects those of us in Generation Z, as the effects of climate change, as of present, will continue to increase in severity over the course of our lifetimes. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As Americans and as global citizens, we have a unique responsibility to take action\u2014and that\u2019s what our work as Co-Head Coordinators of<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/zerohournyc.weebly.com\/\"><b>Zero Hour NYC<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is all about. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>That\u2019s why we\u2019re asking you \u2014 our peers, adult allies, and organizational partners\u2014to join us in a historic youth-led climate march on July 21st this summer. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/1998899610348989\/\">Sign up here to march with young people to demand the bold climate solutions we need<\/a><\/b><b>.<\/b><\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/1998899610348989\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-73006 size-medium\" style=\"margin-top: 18px; margin-bottom: 18px;\" src=\"https:\/\/350.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/rremfojv1da1aawxhkng-700x394.jpg\" alt=\"Zero Hour for the Climate - join the Youth Climate March on July 21\" width=\"700\" height=\"394\" \/><\/a>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thisiszerohour.org\/\"><b>Zero Hour<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was founded by Jamie Margolin, a 16-year-old from Seattle, Washington, who wanted to galvanize her peers in the fight against climate change. Since its founding, Zero Hour has worked to unite youth voices across the country and globe, and bridge social movements to create a powerful coalition dedicated to both social and environmental justice.<\/span><b> On July 21st, Zero Hour will stage an <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/actionnetwork.org\/events\/the-youth-climate-march?source=direct_link&amp;\"><b>international Youth Climate March<\/b><\/a><b>\u2014with the main march in Washington, DC and sister marches from NYC to Melbourne, Australia. <\/b><\/p>\n<p>Our demands for our cities, states, and countries are clear:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Total divestment of public and private funds from the fossil fuel and big agriculture industries<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A just transition to 100% renewable energy by 2040<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A complete stop to the current construction of oil pipelines &amp; fossil fuel infrastructure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/1998899610348989\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-73022\" src=\"https:\/\/350.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2daysArtboard-1-700x700.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By joining the Zero Hour movement, students have the ability to build a better future for themselves \u2014 one without fossil fuels. Here in NYC, we are partnering with a diverse array of activist groups and organizations to maximize turnout for our July 21st March. We have worked closely with <a href=\"http:\/\/gofossilfree.org\/usa\">Fossil Free USA<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/peoplesclimate.org\/\">People\u2019s Climate Movement<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/world.350.org\/nyc\/\">350NYC<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/350.org\">350.org<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/acespace.org\/\">Alliance for Climate Education<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/yppg.org\/\">Youth Progressive Policy Group<\/a>. We are also working with <a href=\"http:\/\/peoplespuppets.org\/\">People\u2019s Puppets<\/a> to use art as a means of amplifying our message of building a more sustainable future. In addition to organizational partners, we are encouraging elected officials, political candidates, and businesses to prove their commitment to a more sustainable future by marching alongside us. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>On July 21st, the NYC Youth Climate March will begin at Columbus Circle at 11 AM and end at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza by UN Headquarters, where it will be followed by a Rally featuring student speakers experienced in environmental activism.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We hope this rally will make the issue of climate change more accessible and grounded in our everyday lives. We know that tackling climate change is as much about fostering concern for our fellow humans\u2019 lives and livelihoods as it is about understanding science and statistics.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_73018\" style=\"width: 551px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/1998899610348989\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-73018\" class=\"wp-image-73018 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/350.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/climate-march-7-21-18_orig-541x700.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"541\" height=\"700\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-73018\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The NYC Youth Climate March route.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><b>Our work does not stop here.
