Stop the Williams pipeline rally at Senator Kaminsky’s Office

MEDIA ADVISORY: WED, AUGUST 14 – NOON – ROCKVILLE CENTER

Long Islanders opposed to the Williams fracked gas pipeline planned under New York Harbor will rally at noon outside New York State Senator Todd Kaminsky’s office. They will be calling on the Cuomo administration to permanently block the dangerous project, and for Senator Kaminsky to speak out against it.

WHAT: Cuomo: Block the Williams Pipeline Rally

WHEN: Wednesday, August 14 – 12:00

WHERE: 55 Front St, Rockville Centre, NY 11570-4007

Background: This billion dollar pipeline project would increase New York’s reliance on fossil fuels, promote fracking, endanger coastal communities and marine life, and fuel the climate crisis. This comes as the Trump administration attempts to single out New York for stopping the Williams pipeline.

In May, Governor Cuomo’s Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) rejected a critical water quality permit for the pipeline, temporarily stopping the proposal. But the Williams Company quickly reapplied, and the project is back up for consideration. Over 25,000 comments opposing the pipeline were submitted to the DEC this summer.

Rally sponsors include: Food & Water Watch, New York Communities for Change, Long Island Progressive Coalition, Sane Energy Project, 350.org, South Shore Audubon Society, Sierra Club Long Island Group, Nassau Hiking & Outdoor Club, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), Friends of the Earth, Green Party of Nassau County, Mothers Out Front – Long Island, All Our Energy
