NEW YORK — On Monday, National Grid released its Natural Gas Long-Term Capacity Report, which was required as part of the settlement reached between Governor Cuomo/Public Service Commission and the beleaguered utility. It also released the schedule for public info sessions related to the report.
The Stop the Williams Pipeline Coalition issued the following statement:
“The entire premise of these “info sessions”—that the public hasn’t already made its demands clear about fracked gas and still has something to learn—is false. The public has already spoken about the Williams pipeline, about trucked LNG, and about all the rest: we don’t want any of it, now or ever. The only way for Governor Cuomo and the PSC to fulfill state climate law is by listening to these demands, not a company trying to preserve a dying business model at the expense of our planetary future. We will be showing up at these sessions to make that point abundantly clear and will continue to fight National Grid from raiding our monthly bills for their short term solutions which include a fracked gas pipeline through North Brooklyn and LNG bomb trucks through our communities.”
The Stop the Williams Pipeline Coalition will hold rallies and press conferences at the March 9, 12, and 24 hearings, demanding Governor Andrew Cuomo and the Public Service Commission stand with New Yorkers and halt all fracked gas projects.
