The Path Through Paris:

Let’s Get Mobilising!

So what are the plans?!

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

Citing the heightened security situation in Paris, the French government is prohibiting the mass mobilisation planned in Paris for 12 December. While this tragedy makes it difficult to go forward with our original plans, we will still find a way for people in Paris to make the call for climate justice heard.

For the latest updates go to www.d12.paris or sign up to the mailing list below.

This December, world governments will meet in Paris to try to strike a global climate agreement. It’s the biggest gathering of its kind since 2009, and potentially a big deal for our global movement. So far, however, the commitments on the table are falling short of what science demands.Getting the solutions we need will involve mass civilian mobilising to turn up the heat before, during and after the Paris talks have finished. How we build our power on the ‘Road through Paris’ is crucial in the fight for climate justice.

What are we doing?

  1. Making sure the fossil fuel industry are as politically isolated as possible during these negotiations by encouraging divestment commitments ahead of Paris
  2. Mobilising people to make the People’s Climate March on the 28th & 29th November the biggest mobilisation on climate yet and a fitting show of people power for the start of the talks
  3. Encouraging people to get to Paris during the talks to take part in the many actions there, including the mass mobilisation on December 12th the final word on the talks  from civil society
  4. Getting ready to keep the fight going – harder than ever – with mobilisations in the diary for February and April 2016

upcoming mobilising events

Nov 28-29: March for Climate, Jobs and Justice

On the eve of the most crucial international summit of the decade, people in cities around the world will take to the streets to march for ambitious action on the climate crisis. From London to São Paulo, and Johannesburg to Paris, we will rise together to meet this moment with a single deafening message that can’t be ignored.

london

The London march will take place on the 29th November – at the beginning of the COP21 talks in Paris.

All the information about the London march can be found on their website here: http://climatejusticejobs.org.uk/ or the Facebook event.

fossil free action at the london march

We are organising a Fossil Free bloc to gather divestment campaigners from across the UK and march together.

Join the Fossil Free Bloc on the London march!

On the 28th, the day before the march, there will be a fossil free artivism session to make banners, placards and props. Details about this will be posted here and on the Fossil Free Bloc Facebook event.

On the evening of the 28th, we will also be having a divestment social! We want to gather campaigners from across the UK to meet, share stories and celebrate our movement.

We will be linking up divestment organisers from London and from elsewhere to provide accommodation for the night of the 28th. If you are interested in helping provide accommodation, or you need it yourself, email ellen@350.org.

cardiff, belfast & edinburgh

There will be marches in Cardiff, Belfast and Edinburgh on the 28th November.

Through the Paris talks – and particularly during the second week (from 5th Dec) – there will be loads of activities going on around Paris, from talks at the ‘Citizens Climate Summit’ to actions with the ‘Climate Games.’

The Climate Action Zone will be a meeting and convergence space for activists throughout the week 7th – 11th Dec with a full programme of events. More information about everything going on will be updated on the French Coalition website.

d12 mass mobilisation

If you only come to Paris for one weekend, make it this one – the day of the mass action at the end of the conference.

We want to have the last word as the talks conclude. And we’ll get it by putting tens of thousands of people into the streets of Paris, and making sure business as usual cannot proceed as long as world governments fail to do what’s needed. Sign up now.
